Site Staff – Children’s Adventure Camp

Role of this position

This position supports the work of the children’s day camp programs through the facilitation of leading small groups to mission sites offsite and onsite.  The site staff is expected to build strong relationships with groups of children and volunteer leaders during free time, worship preparation, small group debriefing, etc.  Enthusiasm for children’s ministry and empathy in understanding children’s issues will enliven candidates for this ministry. In addition to the expectations for all site staff, this role is expected to:

  • Enliven the vision of Mission in the United Church of Canada
  • Participate with GO Project Summer Team to create and maintain the integrity of the mission program
  • Interact with participants to ensure a positive experience


The Site Staff is responsible to:

  • Ensure the church and its contents are safe ensuring that they are used responsibly
  • Participate and lead small groups of children
  • Model and teach The GO Project values and beliefs about all ages faith development and intentional community living
  • Act as a liaison between children and the site coordinator
  • Represent the GO Project in the church, with the community and in all that you do

Typical Duties

  • Participate in daily summer team check-in
  • Plan and lead daily worship with entire team
  • Participate in all programs
  • Be knowledgeable of and be prepared to implement fire, safety, first aid and other emergency procedures if necessary
  • Implement the program as laid out and make adaptations when necessary
  • Meet weekly with Go Project summer team
  • Report abuse disclosures, and any concerns about minors in the care to the Program Coordinator


  • Past children’s mission experience
  • Experience in youth leadership
  • Experience leading children’s programs
  • Knowledge and experience responding to emergency situations

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of youth leadership activities
  • Knowledge of children’s programs and activities
  • Knowledge of vision of the GO Project
  • Experience and comfort offering leadership in a Christian environment
  • Able to work in an environment where interruptions are frequent
  • Able to work effectively in the midst of multiple and varied work demands


This position reports directly to the Children’s Program Coordinator, and is accountable to the Minister to the GO Project at Islington United Church.


The rate of pay is $5600 for 9.5 weeks of work
